FORTS AND CASTELS
The presence of the Malatestas in the area
is represented by a large number of architectural
military forts and castles which can be
still be admired. |
The most notable is Castel Sismondo in
Rimini, built by Sismondo Malatesta
and the Montibello Fortress, Rocca dei Guidi
di Bagno, at Poggio Berni the Macrosanti
Palace , and probably the most interesting
of this era is the Malatesta Fort, which
dominates the old town of Santarcangelo
and in Verruchio the Malatesta Fort.

MUSEUMS
In many centres of the surrounding area
one can find museums and collections of
finds which refer to and tell the story
of the area. from archeology , nature, popular
culture and sacred art.They are all significant
pieces in the reconstruction of the memories
and identities of these places, some of
small local interest and some of wider and
national interest. |

FLAVOURS
In first place on the list of typical Romagnolo
dishes is the famous Piadina ( flat bread
) served with ham or other cooked meats
and wild salad leaves or with Scquaquerone
( creamy local cheese ) served together
with roast meats or boiled pork sausage
and beans. |
Try some of these first course dishes, cappelletti
or passatelli ( made with eggs, bread crumbs
and parmesan cheese ), ravioli with nettles,
gnocchi, strozzapreti and tagliatelli all
made by hand, as is the tradition of this
area.
Second course dishes to be tried are, grilled
meats, rabbit with pork ,tripe and with
side dishes of vegetables,(tomatoes, aubergines
and zucchini ).
